On April 26, 2007, I wrote a message looking for information regarding my grandmother who was from Pisciotta. I do have additional information.

My grandmother, either Rosa or Rosina, had the following siblings: Christina, Sophia, Annilla, Genevieve, and possibly a brother named Joseph. We are not sure that was her brother’s name, but she did have at least one brother.

Again, I would be very grateful if anyone can fill in any additional names of family members.

In February 07, I posted a letter in hopes that I could find relatives &/or find out about relatives. I have not received any feedback, so I'm trying again. I am seriously considering visiting Pisciotta in the fall and I would love more information to help fill in the blanks.

Recently I discovered that my maternal grandmother was from Pisciotta. Throughout the years I have heard little snippets of her life there. I don’t know much about her past, but here is what I do know. She was born Rosa or Rosina Veneroso on July 30, 1886. Her mother (my great grandmother) was Caterina Puglia.

She had at least one sister, Sophia. She also had at least one brother, but no one seems to know his name. It is possible that she had other siblings, we just don’t know.

She came to the United States in 1910 and settled in Syracuse, New York. In 1911, she married my grandfather, Antonio Feo (which was changed to DeFeo when he came to the United States.) My mother used to tell my sisters and me that my grandmother used to write to her sister.

One day, they realized that the letters stopped coming. We can only assume that my great aunt either became too ill to write or passed away. My mother passed away last year, and I feel very sad that there is a branch of my family that I never knew.

If anyone out there can tell me anything about my Pisciotta family, I would be very grateful. Better yet, if I have any family still there, I would love to hear from you. Below is my e-mail address and I live in Bonita Springs, Florida.

Unfortunately, I do not speak Italian. I do have plenty of Italian grammar books, however, that I could probably translate a letter. Thank you so much for at least reading my story.
